kitty away from kitty

Above is Darrell’s kitty away from Kitty. He has other photos of this kitty and her kittens here and assures me that they are being fed and taken care of by the people who are there. I wish he could bring them all to our place though.

Today I am a featured member on Bakespace and my spider cupcake is featured on Sweet Daze! I am starting to feel bad for not baking as much as I used to but am glad I am not eating all of the sweets.

This weekend I completed my second Boot Camp session at the gym and was able to walk the next day with only a small amount of soreness! I also looked at another Racker’s house here in Jacksonville which is currently for sale. I then ran to Sam’s Club to stock up on frozen fruit for my breakfast smoothies and had trouble pumping gas until the attendant came to help me, I guess it’s because I have been so spoiled by having my wonderful husband pump gas that I don’t remember the last time I had to do it myself.

All kids of food and rafles

fall fest

According to a local paper called Fleming Island Messenger there will be a fall festival in my area soon. I can not wait to have all kids of food and get a rafle! Hmm… I don’t think that there is a band called “Bag Dogs” either. Did they spend so much time getting the leaf graphic just right that they totally forgot to read the text?!

Halloween cupcakes

I made some super tasty Pumpkin Pie Cupcakes as a base for my Halloween cupcakes.  I didn’t want to bring them home so I left them at the store, where I had taken this class, along with my Halloween cake for the employees.

I am *still* sore from Boot Camp on Saturday but am going to attempt it again this weekend.

so sore and food review

Filed under: Food, workout — heather @ 12:25 pm

I have been going to the gym every day for two weeks and just added weight training last week. It’s been going really well and its not too painful. What is painful though is the Boot Camp class I took at 7am this Saturday morning. In this class we started with a good warm up and stretch and then some calisthenics and ab work, we ended the session with a three lap jog around the parking lot. I am so incredibly sore and worn out from it that just walking and raising my arms hurt to think about. It was an excellent workout though and I have signed up for four more classes. I guess Sundays are my sleep in day now!

Today I also tried a new place for lunch called The Seafood Factory (they list this site on their take out menu) and it wasn’t very good. The restaurant used to be a sports bar and still looks like one with tvs lining the ceilings and at every booth. The tv at my booth was dirty. It was also very dark inside so I had to turn on the tv in order to read the menu. I had asked for a cup of ‘cream of crab’ soup, which I think would sound better renamed ‘crab bisque’, but was told that the soup was only served in a large bowl and that I could not have just a cup, so I had a crab cake sandwich without soup. The crab cake was about the size of a baseball, had lots of big lumps of crab, but little to no flavor. The french fries were boring too and were served without ketchup. What kind of place serves fries without ketchup? The menu for this place is huge and without focus with prices ranging from $9.95 for starters to $32.95 for main courses. I felt like I was at the Cheesecake Factory while fumbling through the menu, I think they might be more successful if they streamline the menu down a bit and also offer cups of soup. I don’t know about you but I don’t want to pay those prices while dining in a dingy sports bar but if you are starving with money burning a hole in your pocket and happen to find yourself on Fleming Island by all means stop in for some bland food and some tv watching at the The Seafood Factory.

Gosh I sound grumpy! Hopefully cupcake class on Monday will perk me up :)

gym

Filed under: Home — heather @ 6:41 pm

Last week I didn’t leave my apartment for almost a week. I didn’t want to go shopping and spend money on things I did not need and I had plenty of food. So, this weekend I joined a new gym that recently opened. I figure its probably better for me to be there than spending money or sitting on the couch watching our broken tv. I really like this gym because it’s not crowded with members yet and all of the cardio machines have 17″ monitors. They even have Expresso bikes that simulate riding a real bike in a race then log these details to your account on their website and two tread climbers! I am meeting with a personal trainer on Friday so I can learn how to use the machines correctly and get into a routine.

The TV guy actually came on Monday and told me that the green color tube in the TV was shot and that it would be like $700 to fix, he also said that the red and blue tube were also dying. He disabled the green tube and made it so I can watch TV and play Wii, I just can’t see anything green. If you live in Jacksonville and ever need your TV looked at or fixed let me know! The guy who came was really nice and very reasonable.

no more wii for me

Yay!  Darrell made it to his destination last night!

He is either going to be really happy or really upset when he talks to me tonight and finds out that his big 57″ tv is broken.  The screen flickers green and then turns itself off.   Sony was no help when I called for assistance.  Why do these things happen as soon as he leaves the country?   We had discussed buying a new tv when we move into our house and were hoping this one had a little more life in it.   Oh well, I hope I can figure out how to set up Tivo, the DVD player and the Wii on one of our other tvs.

me + roomba = love

Some time ago I had posted the above photo and entry about my Roomba.  Today Richard told me about this Engadget entry that also used the photo above.  And to be honest, I haven’t used my Roomba since I got my Dyson from woot!
