Four years ago today I married a smart, handsome, and amazing man in a city known for bright lights and famous headliners.

But still I’d be lying if I said it wasn’t easy…

While I was away Darrell thoughtfully recorded the Wilco documentary “I Am Trying to Break Your Heart” so that I could re-watch it.  I am watching it now and had forgotten what a great band Wilco is and how much I love Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.  Jeff Tweedy is playing in Austin right before we move; it’s so close I doubt I could twist Darrell’s arm into taking me to the show.   Anyway, I love Wilco.

Today was good; we are still in a holiday fuzz at work and it’s hard to believe that a month from now I won’t be in the office anymore.

Also, I talked to an old friend today.  I will continue to think good thoughts for him, thats all I can do.

Santa, I made these cookies just for you…

But Darrell and Kitty ate them!

What a load off my shoulders!

I finally got tired of my long hair.    It was weighing me down so I got it cut and styled today and it feels so much better!  Shame on me for going three long years without a new style or propper cut.

i love Scion!

I had a great time in Miami!  I love Mark Templin (VP of Scion), Scion, and my little blue tC!

Once I arrived, I hung out with some other Texas winners and visited South Beach!  We ended up at the Clevelander for dinner and our waitress told us that Coolio would be performing across the street shortly.  So he four of us wandered over to where Coolio was to be and waited a bit till showtime, hoping more people would show up to watch.  Two more people showed up.  Coolio started his show and then the rain came down.  I felt bad to leave poor Coolio with such a small audience but I wanted to get out of the rain!

The next day three events were planned; lunch, evening surprises, and afterparty at SoBe Live.

Lunch was sandwiches, soup, salad, and sweets. We kept waiting for some sort of announcement to welcome us to the event but none came so we happily munched and filled out a release form.  I noticed that there were a lot of different clubs seated together throughout ballroom.  Seeing these teams together makes me think that this prize was not completely random.

We waited outside the Loews Hotel for buses and headed to the Miami Convention Center.  Once we arrived we were checked and rechecked to make sure we were who we said we were and to ensure we had no photo taking devices tucked away.  The evening event was supposed to have a dress code of business casual but few followed this request.  Inside, we were treated to several tricked out scions like the xA speedster, hybrid xA, a funky copper colored tC, the famous orange DJ xB, spy tC which was using Windows and had lots of errors, white stretch xB, monster truck xB and the Fuse which is a beyond beautiful concept car for the tC. It was such a treat to see and touch these cars!  There were several trays of food and an open bar along with the opportunity to have your photo taken with the stretch xB or xA speedster.  Mark Templin finally welcomed us to the event and surprised us with two special guests.  Rainn Wilson who plays Dwight Schrute on The Office and Ludacris!  Whoa!  Before Ludacris performed for an hour we got to see the replacement for the xA and the new XB 60 days before anyone else.  They, the re-styled xB and new xD, both look amazing!

After the event we got back onto the buses and headed to SoBe Live.  I am not much of a club person so I didn’t hang around long but it was fun to watch people dance and stumble.

I spent my last day in Miami dining at Emeril’s for lunch and wandering Lincoln Avenue.

On my trip I learned two things; Miami’s South Beach is beautiful and Scion owners are short!

Today, I made bread and uploaded photos!

Above is Darrell’s favorite photo from Jacksonville.  The rest are here but be warned, they are kind of lame because we didn’t do a whole lot except see apartments, eat at Barbara Jean’s (which is known for their meaty crab cakes), visit our friend Brandie in St. Augustine, and hangout around town.

Since I’ve found out we were moving I have been trying to use up the food in our freezer and pantry.  So far I have made scones for breakfast on Sunday with Fisher Fair scone mix which is great and Trader Joes mushroom risotto for lunch, on Monday I baked some breaded halibut and served it with potato buds and corn.  Today I baked some crab cakes and reheated some leftover risotto!  I am glad that I am having fun using this stuff up and making creative meals but wonder how long I can go till I break down and go to the store, I would sure love to pick up some yogurt!

I am still headed to Miami on Thursday to take part in the Scion Miami Owner’s Event and am looking forward to whatever surprises they have in mind.  As a contest winner I have won a round-trip ticket to Miami, two nights at a swanky hotel, access to a very special event and VIP access to a party… they even sent me some Scion branded luggage for the trip!

Watch out Florida here we come!

Jacksonville

Darrell has decided to accept his dream job as a helicopter mechanic in Jacksonville, Florida.

So far, we have secured a beautiful apartment with more fluff than I ever thought possible; they have a salon on site and offer one free treatment per month, community garden, bark park, fitness classes, fountains, ponds with ducks(!), pools, and other resort like amenities, and explored the general area.

No firm start date has been set, but we will be moving sometime early next year.
