when it rains, it pours

We had a great time in Seattle and got to do several things in our short time.  Unfortunately, I did not have enough time to visit with my friends on this trip.  Darrell just had to go to the Museum of Flight so I made sure to squeeze in some time for that.  We also went to Snoqualmie Falls, shopped, spent time with family and relaxed.  As usual we had our Thanksgiving lunch at Ray’s Boathouse and visited Cupcake Royal for dessert.

Mmmm… I love cupcakes!  They had several different yummy kinds to choose from; we ordered pumpkin, chocolate mint, vanilla with lavender frosting, gingerbread, vanilla with perfect pink frosting, and red velvet.  I don’t think that I like red velvet and its bitter tang.

Visiting the cupcake shop renewed my desire to sell these sweet cakes from my car and it looks like I might be following this odd dream sooner than I thought.  Today, Darrell found out that the job he has been pursuing for well over a year is closer than ever.  The company invited us back to Florida to meet with them again and have asked that we stay for one week and explore the area.  So, we are leaving for Jacksonville on Monday!

I love my little blue tC!  I found out that I have won a trip to Miami from Scion.  They are flying 300 Scion owners to a swanky hotel for a couple of days during the middle of December and treating us to a special Scion event and afterparty!  I sent all of my paperwork in.  Hopefully I turned it in on time and am still eligible for the trip.

slip ‘n slide

cake slop

Alton Brown let me down today.  I made his Angel Food cake and had followed all of his instructions to the detail but when I took the cake out of the oven and turned it upside down to cool it slid out of my tube pan.

I was kinda sad because I really wanted to make Amy Sedaris’ Perfect Party Cake and frost and fill the angel food with home made whipped cream so I could share it with my friends.

Darrell asked if I was going to try again but I feel too defeated to try right now.  Damn you clean tooth pick, damn you!

I think I will stick to Martha Stewart’s recipe for now.
