 pineapple

We’ve been exploring some new restaurants lately and found ourselves at the Boardwalk Bistro on Saturday afternoon.  Darrell had something called Chicken Pepperoni and I had Vegetarian Paella.  Both dishes were super yum and mine was so large that I took most of it home and ate it all weekend.  The only thing odd about the restaurant was that it was really dark and we were by far the youngest patrons there.

We then stopped at HEB’s Central Market and decided to get some items for roast.  I also picked up a beautiful Washington peach, a pineapple, and my favorite treat marzipan!

I had never purchased a fresh pineapple before and wasn’t sure of the best way to attack it.  Thankfully I came across this site titled “How to cut a pineapple” which completely dumbed down the process and turned this spiky fruit into something edible.  Now I hope to plant the top of the pineapple and have a new plant!

I think the roast turned out well too, I of course did not taste it.

Darrell is back from his trip to Virginia and his appointment went really well.  He was even able to catch an earlier flight back and has already been reimbursed for his travels.

We both started classes this week.  Arabic and Mosaic.  I am taking the mosaic class and am just making a silly pattern which I am not very excited about.

new phone

Darrell got a new phone today because I accidently washed his keys and old cell phone along with his stinky paintball clothes.  It is a LG VX9800 and it looks pretty neat!  I insisted that he replace his phone this evening because he is headed back to Virginia in the morning and I wanted to know that I could easily reach him for any silly reason.

I swear Darrell has been to Virginia enough times this year for all of us.  Thankfully this will be a quick and hopefully painless trip.  Please think good thoughts for him and wish him luck.  I do hope he has time to visit Trader Joes for me and to maybe snag a “Virginia is for lovers” t-shirt at the airport.

Like just about every weekend we saw a movie at the Alamo Drafthouse.  This time we saw The War Tapes which was excellent but I wish I had more warning so I could turn away quicker when dead people were shown.  The movie reminded me that we only have one more year of President George Bush and then we are able to vote in a new President.
