Stubby & Milo

I feel like things have been kinda crazy and scattered for the past few weeks so I am posting today with a few random things that have happened recently:

-The oven broke on Monday and greeted me with the following error message:

 FFF

It has since been replaced with a brand new one which I will break in tomorrow when I make my Snakes on a cake cake!

-We went to a Missions baseball game on an incredibly hot evening. Ugh!

-Failed once again to go to local the roller derby bout.

-Darrell is sick.

-My neighbor is very upset because she was told to stop feeding the stray cats (pictured above) by our apartment complex.  She called to tell me that she “cried her eyes out for hours” because she was so sad.  I named the orange one Stubby because she has short legs, Milo on the right has a home but pretends to be homeless.

snakes on a plane

Snakes on a plane rocked!  It had more of a plot than I thought it would, and it went pretty quickly since it was very simple and silly. I can not wait to make my snakes on a cake cake for my co-workers birthday next week!  I have already purchased the plane and gummy worm snakes.  If it turns out well I will enter it in the “snakes on stuff” contest.

Tomorrow we are going to the local roller derby for the first time.  I hope they have chairs and stuff; I don’t want to sit on the floor.

Le Wrap

wrap

Today, after work, I went to the spa and had an odd treatment.  I had a “Le Wrap” body wrap which is described as:

Le Wrap is a new approach to an old problem. Reducing, weight control, exercise and cellulite control have always been major problems. We have a solution, everybody can live with.  You work on your eating habits and we help you with 2-3 times the inch loss compared with just dieting!

It was advertised on their mailing list at a discount and I was feeling adventurous!

When I arrived at the spa I was greeted by my esthetician, Nam, and taken into a familiar room.  I then had to disrobe, get measured all over and get sprayed with some sort of cold prepping spray.  Once that was done she proceeded to slather on the magic gel which smelled a lot like self tanner and then wrapped me in saran wrap.  After I was wrapped like a piece of meat she helped me into a vinyl sweat suit to help make the inches melt away, but really I think it just kept me warm because I didn’t sweat.  I had to lay snug as a bug for 35 minutes.  Nam came back, helped me out of my suit and started to cut away the plastic.  She then re-measured and told me that I could get dressed.  She met me outside of the room and told me that I had lost a total of 9.5 inches and to drink lots of water and avoid salty foods for the next three days.

It was an interesting experience and I could see it useful for someone who felt that they needed to lose some inches quickly and not at all interested in a relaxing time at the spa.

t shirt surgery retail therapy

prod shirts

At work we get some pretty cool shirts but sometimes they are plain or get stains on them from normal wear.  These shirts were put together and ordered quickly so that we could show our team spirit for our CORE values boot camp back in March.  When I received my Product shirt I immediately colored in the letters with silver acrylic paint and accidentally splattered it outside of the lines.  I then used my handy bleach pen to attempt to remove the excess ink.  Bad idea.  Soon I had holes in my shirt, that’s how the butterflies got added.

My awesome co-worker, Margaret, liked my shirt and wanted me to embellish hers too.  So she left her shirt with me before she went on vacation and I finally got around to finishing it today so I could give it to her tomorrow.  Hopefully she will be too blinded by the faboulousnes of her Product Diva shirt to notice that I accidentally killed her plant!

In other news, Darrell and I got our quarterly bonus and have been spending money like mad!  He bought some outrageously nice headphones and I placed an order in to Lush for my favorites, and also picked up all three (watermelon, Key lime & chocolate) of the drool worthy Insatiable soaps at Victoria Secret, which are currently buy two get one free.  We plan to have a nice dinner tonight at Paesanos when Darrell returns from his paintball trip and I am sure that’s where our spending spree will end.

Visit from old friends

me richard carly

This week my friend Carly and her dad, Richard, stopped by to spend the night with us while on their way to Florida.

Carly and I have known each other since I met her brother, Kevin, in High School.  She was always involved in ballet and Drill and we were around each other a lot because I was usually at her house on the weekends and after school.  I spent countless holidays and many hours bowling with their family; they treated me like one of their own!  Sometime after college I moved to Texas and a couple of years later Carly decided to move there too.  We lived together for about 6 months and then I moved back to Seattle and she moved to Arizona where her family had relocated.  We had lost touch a little during all of those moves so it was great to see her this week.

It is nice to know that if we do end up moving to Florida at least I will have a friend there, even if she is a couple of hours away.

I have only a few pictures here from their visit.
