Thanksgiving travel update

Filed under: Food, Holiday — Administrator @ 6:08 pm

I went to Seattle to visit my Mom over the Thanksgiving holiday. It has become somewhat of a tradition since I married my Texan husband. I usually fly alone there and back since Darrell “doesn’t like the flight”. I had a nice time catching up with my Mom, eating great food, and shopping. We even took the bus across the lake and went to Bellevue Square for the sole purpose of visiting the Lush store. While at the mall I also found a great gift for Darrell which I hope he will enjoy as he doesn’t really like receiving gifts (or giving gifts!).

The only bad thing was that I was still trying to get over my cold and felt antisocial and didn’t hang out with any of my friends. I hope that they aren’t too mad at me.

Here is a picture from Golden Gardens Park which is right next to Ray’s Boathouse where we ate Thanksgiving Day Lunch:

Wow tomorrow will be December 1st already!

Hello Holidays!

Filed under: Holiday — heather @ 6:17 pm

It is finally starting to cool down here in San Antonio. I don’t know why but last weekend I decorated for Christmas. We don’t have much in the way of decorations but I put what little we had out. After Thanksgiving I start to decorate real pine wreaths with ornaments picked up from the clearance rack after the previous Christmas.

Since I finished decorating I’ve been thinking of what kind of holiday treats to make this year for family and friends besides the old standbys; green tree spritz, my favorite ribbon cookies, and two of my Mom’s great recipes: bon bons and almond butter crunch toffee. Martha Stewart’s new holiday cookie magazine has a lot of varieties but none that really caught my eye. If you have any favorites please post them!
