Have I told you lately that I am totally addicted to a website called babysteals? Babysteals is like Woot but full of all the baby stuff that I never knew that I needed. They offer one item each day at such a good price that it is a steal. I am so in love with this site that I can’t leave the house without my laptop around steal time because I don’t want to miss out on that day’s steal. Anyway, today is their second birthday. Happy Birthday Babysteals!
A couple of months ago there was a terrible tragedy near where we live where a little girl named Somer Thompson was walking home from school and was later found dead. There hasn’t been much information released as to what exactly happened during that time or who could have done such a terrible thing but it has really rattled the community and caused parents to hold their children a little tighter.
Today, Hera and I headed to an event to raise money for Somer’s family. There were lots of bikers and bands but not much else. I had read that there would be craft vendors and food but all I found were bouncy houses and hot dogs. I was however happy to see that I could get a child ID kit started for Hera, even at two months of age! She got finger printed and photographed and I was sent home with a CD of images, tiny fingerprints and a card with her information. There was also a video/photographer from the Jacksonville Times Union who shot the above footage. You can see Hera at 00:51 as she poses for her ID photo.
Wow! It’s been awhile since I last updated! Hera Marie was born September 18th and is now six weeks old! She is keeping me very busy.

Girl! I will be having a baby girl in September. We are very happy and excited!
Darrell is out of town right now but I hope that once he returns we can start to get some baby necessities together. We already have two sturdy car seats (one for each car) and bought a used Volvo XC90 SUV to carry our little bundle of joy around in style but know we will need to purchase furniture and lots of other items. In the meantime, I plan to hit the garage sales to see if I find anything good.
I am a little sad because I doubt I will get to have a baby shower since we don’t really know anyone well here. Oh well, I’ll live! 
I am pregnant and due at the end of September! I have been feeling pretty good but am constantly tired. We are excited and looking forward to the first ultrasound next month.

Six years ago today I made a great decision and married that wonderful man with the monkey on his head. To celebrate our anniversary we are spending the weekend exploring St. Augustine together.
Last night our awesome neighbors invited us over for dessert with their family. I had already planned on making pumpkin pie for us and made that the day before. I had a extra pie shell on hand and a lemon so I put them to good use and made a lemon chess pie. The pie was new to me and turned out really well.  It reminds me a lot of a more sweet than tart lemon bar with its light top sugar crust and creamy custard filling. Darrell even made whipped cream for the pies!
I forgot to mention that we had a great trip to Mexico (here is the proof!) and for the first time in a long time I did not get sick. I also did not take any chances and reduced my risk by only eating cooked veggies and other cooked items. The only fresh food I couldn’t resist was salsa. I had my picture taken with the birdman of Playa del Carmen and also some monkeys.
Soon after returning from vacation we visited the dentist who promptly suggested that we come in to have some work done the following week. I am glad we could spend that time together but did not enjoy having my extra gum tissue removed (via laser!). I am still recovering. ow!
